2K27 Seatbelt Cuts Off the Drive
NBA 2K27 Seatbelt badge strengthens body-up defense and cuts off the drive. New Defense badge. See the clamp job, and why it is not Ankle Braces or Wall-Up.
Get into the driver’s body and take the lane. Seatbelt is that clamp. Staying upright on a crossover is Ankle Braces. A hands-up paint contest is Wall-Up.
Current for the NBA 2K27 MyPLAYER Builder reveal.
Body-up, then cut the lane
Seatbelt is a new Defense badge. The official job is better body-up defense, and an easier time cutting off the drive.
Read both halves:
- Body-up — you are on the driver’s body, not jumping a passing lane.
- Cut off the drive — you take the path, not the jumper.
It does not say you steal more, block more, or drain the other player’s energy. Energy drain is Bruiser.
| Defense job | Seatbelt? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Body-up a driver | Yes | First half of the official job |
| Cut off the drive path | Yes | Second half of the official job |
| Stay up when a handle hunts ankles | No | Ankle Braces |
| Hands-up contest in the paint | No | Wall-Up |
| Timed closeout on a perimeter shooter | No | Challenger |
Three new defense jobs
Defense added three new names this year. They do not share a trigger.
- Ankle Braces: you stay on your feet against a dribble move.
- Wall-Up: hands up, in the paint, contesting a shot.
- Seatbelt: body-up, take the drive.
A “locks need every defense badge” line is a ranking. Spend tokens if your matchups actually lower a shoulder and go downhill.
No clamp rating to copy
Seatbelt is new. There is no last-year clamp table.
The Builder shows the token cost for your size and position. See requirements and how badges work before you trust a copied lock build.
If I stay upright on a crossover, is that Seatbelt?
No. That stay-up sentence is Ankle Braces. Seatbelt is the body-up that cuts the drive.
See the 53-name list for the other new defense names.
