2K27 Cap Breakers: Builder Preview
2K27 Cap Breakers return. After a build hits 99 OVR, a Builder Glossary preview shows each attribute boost before you commit. Read how to use that preview.
You no longer have to take a finished MyPLAYER into The City just to see what a Cap Breaker does. The preview now lives in the Builder Glossary — after the build is at 99 OVR.

What a Cap Breaker is
A Cap Breaker is a spendable boost that pushes one attribute past the ceiling your build would normally allow.
Think of the Builder as a set of lids. Height, weight, wingspan, and archetype each put a lid on Speed, Strength, three-point shot, and the rest. A Cap Breaker is permission to lift one of those lids a little.
Because badge levels follow attributes, lifting a lid is one way a build reaches a stronger badge or a cheaper token cost. The Cap Breaker itself is not a badge.
What the preview actually shows
Once the MyPLAYER is a 99 OVR in the Builder, the Cap Breaker preview turns on. It shows how much each attribute would gain if a breaker is applied. That screen sits in the Builder Glossary, next to badges, animations, and Takeover abilities.
The old loop — finish the build, enter The City, come back, try a different layout — is what this preview replaces.
It shows attribute boosts. It does not, in the published text, promise a live “this breaker unlocks Legend Pace” readout. Treat that claim as something you check on the same screen, not something a spreadsheet can invent.
Build Specialization quests still award extra Cap Breakers. Counts, VC costs, and exact boost sizes are on that Builder screen, not in a copied table here.
How to use the preview
The NBA 2K HQ app can open the Builder from August 21. Deluxe and Ultra Early Access is August 26 at 9:00 AM PT.
- Build to 99 OVR in the MyPLAYER Builder.
- Open the Builder Glossary and find the Cap Breaker preview.
- Preview one attribute. Write the before and after.
- Look at whether any nearby badge token cost moved on the same body.
- Keep the note. A 2K26 spreadsheet is not a substitute.
If the preview is missing, or if it only shows a tooltip with no number, that is also a finding. Record it.
